Andy 'X-Factor' Boulton

about andy

I am 43 and  have been playing darts for 25 years. I originally hail from the home of darts, Stoke-on-Trent. However in the last 8 years I have found a new home and now reside in Ardrossan, Ayrshire in Scotland.

In 2015 I won through the PDC Qualifying School to claim my place on the professional tour! Gaining my spot after topping the Q-School order of merit table. I am currently ranked number 58 in the World. My greatest achievement to date is qualifying for the 2016 William Hill PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace. After coming through a field of over 200 players to qualify for the event, I then went onto win my first ever match on the greatest stage of all, before losing to the defending World Champion Gary 'The Flying Scotsman' Anderson, who then went onto retain the title for the second year in succession. Also in my first PDC season I also qualified to play in the 2015 Singha Beer Grand Slam Of Darts in Wolverhampton. Although finishing bottom of the group which involved Gary Anderson, Raymond Van Barneveld & Larry Butler, great experience was gained which hopefully will set me in good stead for the future!

Since the move north of the border, I have won over 100 Open titles .I made my Lakeside debut in January 2008 and reached the last 16, before losing out to Ted 'The Count' Hankey. I have also been fortunate enough to appear at the Lakeside World Championships on two more occassions in 2011 and 2012.

In 2008 I made my debut playing for England at the Home Internationals, where I won my only International cap against Mark Barilli of Scotland.

I have appeared in the PDC's UK Open on 6 separate occasions. It was in 2011 which saw my best run in the competition before eventually losing out in the last 16 to good friend Mark Webster.

Other major victories have been winning the Granite City Open twice, the European Open, the Elgin Open, the Harrows Singles and twice Fife Open Champion. My favourite venue has to be Airdrie Working Mens Club! I just cant put my finger on why this would be!

I have also had great success playing Doubles tournaments over the years. A successful partnership for many years was had with Ian 'Diamond' White with many victories, most notably back to back Welsh Open Champions in 2008 & 2009. I also teamed up with John 'Boy' Walton to win the Turkish Open Pairs in 2009, and more recently the first ever Hague Championship Doubles titles with Nathan 'The Asp' Aspinall in 2015!

In 2015 another winning combination was on top form when I teamed up with Kaileigh 'Mrs X' Brown to be crowned the Scottish Mixed Doubles Champions!

I currently play at county level for West Ayrshire, in the Scotland South Division. Before this I played for 8 years with Cheshire. Combined with my love for karaoke and the usual sing-song after MC-ing at county matches, the nickname 'X-Factor' came about.

You will find all the latest X-Factor News and Results from tournaments as we get them.
